Kalamazoo, MI family photography. 3 month old session.
I get told this all the time….
“I have been meaning to get family photos done, but I just never have the time!”
Message received…I get it. I don’t have time for anything ever in life. I feel like I get nothing accomplished, but I am always busy. Maybe this is what being an adult is? Woof.
Here is what I am planning for 2019 now that we finally are in the realm of ‘it no longer gets dark at 5 ’o clock in the evening anymore’ time. For all of you busy folks, one weeknight per week, I will be offering shorter sessions at a lower rate than a typical session. And, this can be used for any session with the exception of a newborn session!
So, if you are a senior in high school in so many activities and working a job that you don’t have time to dedicate to a full session, Wednesday evenings will be your time. Family of 5 with so many activities going on that you can’t see straight? BOOM. You’re in! You say you have a 3 year old who hates getting his picture taken? Well, GREAT! I will spend 10 minutes playing with the little dude getting him happy, and 10 minutes taking his picture, and you will walk away with some magic.
Here is the thing…I am not into themed sessions. I am not really even sure what you would do with the photos after. I just want everyone to have a few wonderful images to hang on the wall and mail out to grandparents, hang on the fridge, and be super proud that you made that family, and you have cute kids. EVERY FAMILY SHOULD GET AN UPDATED PHOTO EVERY YEAR!
C’mon, you guys! COME ON! :) If you have children that look the same from year-to-year, I think I might have to call the law, because you might just be an alien…I mean, that is cool if you are an alien from outer space…but for the rest of you, you should be documenting these changes, and I don’t mean just on your cell phone! DON’T GET ME STARTED ON SNAPCHAT FILTERS! AHHHHHHHHH.
Sorry…sorry for losing it there…I just can’t deal with it. It is so important. Time is something we can never get back!
WHAT IS THE CATCH?!?! Okay, I suppose there has to be one. The catch is, once the weeknight for that week has been scheduled, that is the one and only weeknight I will do for the week. The other catch is that the locations will be limited. That is pretty much it…so I guess that isn’t really that bad. I am just part-time right now! :)
20-minute session time
Open to any type of session with the exception of newborns (and obviously weddings, parties, etc…those don’t fit in this formula, guys. If you aren’t sure, please feel free to ask!)
Cost: $125 session fee, which will include choice of five high-resolution digital images. Additional images/products may be purchased based on current Product List on www.finkanie.com/pricing).

Senior pictures, hands down, are my favorite. To me, they are so important…it is such a huge milestone in a young person’s life to be graduating from high school, and I am always so honored to be chosen to capture that moment in a teenager’s life. For Christian, it was really awesome for me because I had done his sister’s photos a couple of years ago, so seeing his family again and drawing comparisons with siblings is something I really just love…I had forgotten about how with his sister, Tori, that when we placed her in a certain spot for the photos that apparently we had awoken an ant hill that went bonkers on her, and it was fun to reminisce. Both Christian and his sister were so easy to work with and just easy to be around. Christian put up with my terrible humor at trying to get him to laugh, and he was just amazing to work with as you can see by his photos! It was really difficult for me to narrow down his session because, seriously, all of his pictures were just amazing! I loooooooooooooooooooooooove his photos, so I hope that he an his family love them just as much as I do! I am pretty confident in saying that this young man will do great things in life!
It is just crazy to me that I met the Tannehill family for Aiden’s 3 year session, and our last session was memorializing his 5 year milestone! Time really flies! Since then, I have had the honor of watching the Tannehill family grow to a family of 4 with little Landen! They are such a beautiful family! My own son will be turning 5 soon, and it is so bittersweet to see them change from really needing us to becoming more independent…just the height is what gets me! I notice the same thing when I see Aiden each time! The boys both change so much in what seems like such a short period of time…before we know it, it’ll be time for his senior pictures! AHHH!! SLOW DOWN, BOYS!! :)
I just love this family dynamic because it reminds me so much of mine growing up (three girls to one boy)! Miles may be outnumbered by the girls, but let me tell you, he will grow up knowing exactly how to handle himself! Bob & Deanna have created a beautiful family!
I loved spending time with these kiddos…I may or may not have been tackled during our session…hey, that’s what happens when you commit to what you’re doing! You gotta make it fun! :)
If these kids don’t stop growing up so fast, I am going to FREAK OUT!!! They are some of the best kids that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and I just love seeing the Fetckos grow each year... Now to be real, Kim and Mike don’t age I think…I mean seriously…but the kiddos…omg every time I see them, it just is a kick to my heart with how much they change! They are all so sweet…I love them!!!!!!! :)
The cliche is true about when you have true friends, even when you go a long time without seeing each other, when you do get to be together, you pick up where you left off and nothing changes. I am so lucky to have that with Kimmy and Mike! Even though we live in two different states now, whenever I see them, it always feels just like it did back when we were teenagers! (Well, I guess Mike was nev er a teenager when we met…me and Kimmy and our “old men” we married…ahahahaha.) I love all 5 of these amazing people so much! It is very clear how much love is in this family, and I feel lucky to know them all! <3 <3 <3
